Bryan Atchley, affectionately known as “Coach B,” is a proud lifelong member of the Sevier County High School (SCHS) community and a 1990 graduate. He earned both his Bachelor of Arts and Master of Science degrees from the University of Tennessee in 1997, majoring in History with a minor in Geography, and later completed his Educational Specialist (Ed.S.) degree at Lincoln Memorial University in 2002. Mr. Atchley began his career at SCHS in 1992 as a volunteer football coach and was hired as a full-time teacher in 1997. Over the years, he has taught World Geography, Contemporary Issues, Tennessee History, Sevier County History, World History, and Personal Finance. In 2014, he was named Athletic Director, a position he continues to serve in today, while remaining dedicated to equipping students with both academic knowledge and practical skills that prepare them for success beyond high school.

In addition to his work in the classroom, Mr. Atchley has made a lasting impact through athletics. His football coaching career spanned nearly 30 years, contributing to a state championship in 1999 and a state runner-up finish in 2015. As Head Soccer Coach from 2006 to 2016, he led the program to four regular season district titles, two tournament championships, and its first-ever substate appearance, earning Coach of the Year honors five times. Under his leadership as Athletic Director, SCHS athletics has experienced unprecedented success, including state championships, numerous state tournament appearances, and several first-time achievements in school history. His leadership reflects a commitment to excellence, integrity, and opportunity for all student-athletes.

A true “Bear For Life,” Mr. Atchley’s connection to SCHS extends back to his childhood, attending games and supporting the school long before beginning his professional career. His passion for SCHS is matched only by his dedication to its students, faculty, and community. He is married to Dr. Kristi Atchley, an AP and Honors English teacher at SCHS, and together they share a deep commitment to student success. They are proud parents of two daughters who continue the family tradition of service and leadership. Mr. Atchley remains steadfast in his mission to support and promote Sevier County High School in every way possible.
